Waipatiki Beach

Waipatiki Beach, situated just north of Napier is a great destination. Waipatiki means “water…sand flounder”. It was once an estuarine valley and a very good place for early Maori to catch these fish.
The walk along the cliffs is very adventurous. Quite overgrown and sometimes very narrow … not registered with DOC anymore. But if you are in for a little bit of an adventure I can definitely recommend it. Just be careful!
